Need to adjust your song’s narrative voice or ensure consistency in repeated sections? Here’s how to handle both types of lyric changes:
1. Changing Lyrical Perspective (First vs. Third Person)
- Before Ordering:
- Specify your preferred perspective (first-person: “I love you” or third-person: “They loved each other”) in the “Special Requests” section during checkout.
- Specify your preferred perspective (first-person: “I love you” or third-person: “They loved each other”) in the “Special Requests” section during checkout.
- After Delivery:
- Changes are possible but require a revision request (email support@songfinch.com).
- Fees may apply (case-by-case basis, depending on artist availability).
- Note: By default, songs are written from the gifter to the recipient (first-person). To avoid names entirely, select the “Don’t mention recipient” option.
2. Editing Repeated Choruses
- How It Works:
- Editing one chorus line updates all repeated choruses automatically.
- Example: Changing “Jenny, you’re my star” to “Jen, you’re my star” adjusts every chorus.
- Clarify Your Request:
- Add a note like “Update all choruses” when submitting revisions to avoid confusion.
3. How to Request Changes
- Minor Edits (Choruses, Typos):
- Use the Lyric Assist Tool (within 48 hours of delivery) for quick fixes.
- Major Changes (Perspective):
- Email support@songfinch.com with:
- Your order number.
- Specific requests (e.g., “Switch to third-person”).
4. Limitations & Fees
- Perspective Changes:
- Not guaranteed after 14 days (artists archive files).
- Beyond 90 days, repurchase a new song to update perspective.
- Chorus Edits:
- Free within 48 hours (via Lyric Assist Tool).
- After 48 hours, fees may apply.
